THE MOUNTAIN IS ALWAYS HERE

Spanish 1.
A mountain of ideas.

21 reading, memory, and recall notes. Repeated cards build the pile; each opens its learning note.

Click a card to unfold it. Drag it onto the desk, then flick and release. Keyboard: Enter opens a card; on a loose note, R returns it. Use Pan view to move across a narrow screen.

Your notes and learning progress stay safe when the pile moves.

ASSIGNMENT 00 / The welcome desk

Make first contact

Greet someone, ask their name, and keep the conversation going.

A SMALL CONVERSATION
Lucía

Hola, me llamo Lucía. ¿Cómo te llamas?

Alex

Me llamo Alex. Mucho gusto.

Lucía

Igualmente. ¿Qué tal?

Alex

Bien, gracias. ¿Y tú?

Original fictional dialogue. Read each part aloud, then swap roles.

NOTICE THE PATTERN

Words that do something.

  1. Hola works in many everyday settings. Buenos días, buenas tardes, and buenas noches fit different times of day; buenas noches can also be a farewell.
  2. Me llamo introduces your name. ¿Cómo te llamas? asks one person informally. In a more formal setting, use ¿Cómo se llama usted?
  3. ¿Qué tal? asks how things are going. Bien, gracias is a short reply. Ask ¿Y tú? to pass the conversation back.
  4. Use ¿…? for a written question and ¡…! for an exclamation. Accents belong to spelling: cómo in a question differs from como in other uses.
  5. Useful repair phrases: No entiendo. ¿Puedes repetir, por favor? Más despacio, por favor. Asking for help is part of communicating.
